FAQ Friday: "How Long Does It Take a Makeup Artist To Do Her Own Makeup?"

There is often a moment during a makeup application when a client realizes just how involved the whole makeup application process is. Half way through makeup, I get the question: "Do you do your makeup everyday? How long does it take you to do your makeup?" I think most client's picture me spending 30-60 minutes each day layering product after product on my face. Most days, I wear nothing - my three year old could care less about a sharp cheekbone or carved out brow. Even on workdays, I wear the bare minimum because, face masks. So, short answer, "No, I do not do my makeup every day." But if there is a day when I either need to look a bit more professional or if I'm just feeling myself, I'll spend 5-10 minutes doing my makeup so I look a bit more fresh-faced. These are the five steps that I never skip:
Conceal under the eyes and spot treat any blemishes or discoloration.
Add a pop of color to the cheeks - I find that a cream blush looks the most natural.
Brush up and fill in the eyebrows.
Curl your eye lashes and apply a black mascara.
Use a lip liner similar to the natural color of your lips to give them shape, blend the color all over the lips, and top off with a chapstick.
*If you're feeling sassy, use a brown eyeshadow as an eyeliner on the upper lash line. I always like creating a little flick at the end to lift my eye.
I hope you have a great weekend and thank you for reading! See you again next Friday! XO,
Rachel
